The Heavy vehicle factory is situated in Avadi, Chennai which one of the 40 ordnance factory under ordnance of factory of Ministry of defense and government of India and are located on the outskirts of Chennai. The factory has been the forefront of Battle tank manufacturing in our country and is also have the heavy manufacturing facilities of ordnance factory board.

This factory has been headed by a senior central government officer of SAG rank who is assisted by the Group-A, Group-B officers, non-Gazetted officers and non-industrial employee. The factory also has strength of medical officers and paramedical officers that are available on captive hospital HVF.

Power and duties of employees and Officers based on Rank

The factory is headed by the General Manager of SAG level to ordnance factory board through Addl. Director General. All other staff, asst. manager, officers and industrial employees are the sub ordinates of the factory that work under the General Manager. Each of them has given certain authorities on the basis of which they can able to take important decision that can help the factory to grow more and follow the rules and regulation in employees. The financial and administrative decisions are taken under the norms and guidelines that are assigned by the government of India along with the directives under Ministry of defense.

The responsibility and duties are assigned to the officers, staff and industrial employees of HVF according to the functional requirement of their work area for maintaining and handling items. They are required to manage their quality product and satisfy the customer requirement.

To get recruited in such industry the candidates can practice the online available exams papers that can help them to get the cleared with their written exams. The selection is totally based on merit basis and on that basis various vacancies are get filled up. The factory every year invites various candidates for various semi- skilled trade post that include mechanist, examiner, electronic fitter, general fitter, welder, trader etc.

The individual have to select the appropriate post based on the age limit, pay scale that is based on every post and qualification that they have possessed. The application fee is charged rupees 50 and the mode of selection is based on the syllabus and format of examination that are conducted every year. The exams are conducted every year and the recent one was held on 1 Apr 2012 whose exam was conducted in the 2012 ending.
