About East Central Railway:
East costal railways are one among sixth new railways whose Head Quarter is associated at Hajipur. On 16-June 1996, Ministry of railway decided to bring out six new zones in the country by re-establishing the existing ones. They are comprises of four major divisions which include Sonpur, Danapur, Samrastipur and Dhanbad and Mughalsarai. They are broadly divided into two sections that include Grand Chord and Howrah Delhi main lines.
East Costal Railway was established on 8 Oct 1996 that is designed as temporary zonal offices coving 3100 sq ft of area within it. Core group and staff have started working by looking at some of the activities of Sonpur and Samrastipur divisions. Hajipur district is the Head Quarter of Vaishali that is 25 kilometer away by road and 200 kilometer away by rail route of Patna. They cover a vast network of 5230 with 3260 kilometeres route encompassing States of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand. Most of the area is electrified completely which comprises of 4267 square feet. The newly constructed carriage repair in this region was set up as Harnaut at a revised cost of Rs.328.33crore. They include the capacity of 50 coaches per month which was taken by Workshop Project organization agency of East Central Railways.
